Stores/Kitchen Porter

As a Stores/kitchen porter you will keep the kitchen and stores in the hotel or banqueting kitchens neat and tidy, working at the Chateau Impney Hotel, part of the Greyfort Group. You will have the vision to be an inspired individual, providing exceptional customer service and experiences which constantly exceed expectations. You will assist the Executive chef to achieve the company’s strategy to produce both banqueting and fine dining food experiences. The company now offers a stylish setting for weddings and events with extensive conferencing and exhibition facilities, including the Regent centre, which is one of the largest exhibition spaces in the West Midlands.

Hours of work: To include evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Key Responsibilities

Team leadership
To be proactive in delivering the teams objectives

Operational management

  • Understand team strategies and objectives
  • Ensure all kitchens and stores and delivery area are clean, tidy and maintained in line with health and safety requirements at all times, reporting any breaches or hazards to your line manager which includes
  • Clean, sweep and jet wash the delivery area daily to ensure no build-up of food debris or rubbish
  • Ensure bins are not overfilled, and are always maintained in good order with their lids closed 
  • Ensure that refuse is suitably disposed of in the correct areas
  • Jet wash all bins are jet washed at lease once a week
  • Ensure all goods delivered are checked for
  • Accuracy of delivery note to actual contents of delivery
  • All stock in good order and not broken, damaged or defective in line with SOP
  • Reject any goods if not in good order and inform line manager
  • All stock on delivery note matches the original order placed
  • Temperature records (where appropriate) are received and checked
  • ‘Use by’ dates on all product cases are within the required date range
  • To ensure that all machinery and plant that you operate is always maintained and clean, and that proper health and safety guidelines and requirements are followed at all times
  • Accept and carry out any reasonable duties assigned to you by your manager or any member of the hotel management team

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the team

  • Negotiate with others and resolve conflicts

Health and safety

  • Ensure you are informed of and trained in safe practices and procedures in their specific areas of work
  • Ensure back of house and preparation areas are maintained and clean
  • Ensure you are familiar with hotel emergency procedures
  • Use and store chemicals safely and according to relevant COSHH data sheets
  • Ensure you work in a manner that is always fully compliant with Health and safety legislation and hygiene protocols
