Not everyone wants a tranquil escape for their honeymoon – many couples are looking to embark on their next adventure!
Donna from GoCruise, one of our expert wedding partners, regularly arranges bespoke adventure holidays and has chosen four of the best places to visit for those in search of an unforgettable “adventuremoon”!
Iceland is one of the best places to see the stunning natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights, as well as being home to gorgeous glaciers, ice blue lakes and volcanoes. If you’d like to take in the Northern Lights, the best time to visit is between October and February when the daylight hours are shorter. However, if you’d like to venture onto the seas for some whale watching, then the summer months are best. At any time of the year, a visit to the natural hot springs of the Blue Lagoon are a must.
Many would-be adventurers will have added Machu Picchu to their bucket list, and a visit to this amazing Mayan temple makes for a fantastic honeymoon. There are lots of excellent luxury hotels in the Sacred Valley of Urubamba, close to the ruins, so you can combine your trek with a relaxing stay. Staying close by will also let you make an early start, so you can discover Machu Picchu at its most peaceful.
So whether you follow the Inca trail from the Sacred Valley or take a luxury train, a visit to Machu Picchu is a must for anyone looking for a unique honeymoon.
The breathtaking Galápagos Islands are home to 1,900 species of wildlife, including some of the rarest animals in the world. A trip to these incredible islands is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and ultimately, an amazing honeymoon experience that neither of you will ever forget. Celebrity Cruises offer an all-inclusive trip to Galápagos, where highly qualified naturalist guides accompany you on every sailing and will introduce you to Galápagos tortoises, penguins, sea lions, blue-footed boobies and many more species as you trek across the islands.
If you’d prefer a land-based trip with an excursion to the islands, then why not visit Ecuador and take in the Amazon Rainforest as part of your journey? You can then charter a journey to the islands via private yacht – a truly fantastic experience!
Africa is a vast and beautiful continent, with some of the most amazing natural wonders in the world. With so much to see and do, why not combine a safari with trips to Mount Kilimanjaro or Victoria Falls?
Adventure doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice luxury and romance! There are plenty of five-star hotels and lodges throughout the continent, especially in South Africa, with the chance for a relaxing beach stay. And, after a day of hitting the safari trail, you could take a hot air balloon ride over the savannah, or enjoy candlelit dinners under the stars.
