Gyorgy Huba, Deputy Bars Manager, Chateau Impney, Droitwich

Meet the Team: Gyorgy Huba, Deputy Bars Manager

Thursday 21 April 2016

You’ll usually find our Deputy Bars Manager Gyorgy behind any one of our nine bars, helping to keep our guests refreshed. Chatting with lots of our guests means that he’s usually got all the latest news about upcoming events in the area.

Name: Gyorgy Huba
Role at the Chateau: Deputy Bars Manager
Has worked here for:  Four and a half years

The best thing about working at Chateau Impney is …

I love working at such a large hotel and being responsible for all of the bars across the site – there are nine in total!  We deal with more people than most big nightclubs and it’s great working with Drew, our Bars Manager, to put together some really exciting drinks promotions and packages throughout the year. I also enjoy the wine tasting that my team and I have to do every now and then!

If I could choose to swap jobs for a day with anyone else at the Chateau, it would be …

I’d swap with Peter, our Deputy General Manager.  Peter has been here a long time and knows the place inside out.  He is responsible for all of the operations across the business and it’s really interesting to watch him manage all of the different things that go on at the same time.

My favourite part of the hotel is …

The Grand Ballroom is, without question, one of the most beautiful spaces in the hotel. The original ceiling, which used to be John Corbett’s drawing room, is spectacular. The elegant functions and black tie events we have in there, as well as all of the wonderful weddings we cater for, makes the room really special.

The one place in Droitwich or Worcestershire that our guests should visit is …

A ride on the Severn Valley Railway is always a great day out. The steam trains run between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth and each trip offers spectacular views of the Severn Valley. Each time you ride the railway, you’ll experience a unique part of Worcestershire history – some of the trains that you can go on are almost 100 years old.

My favourite dish on the Chateau menu is …

I have a bit of a sweet tooth, so I’m going to say the Salted Caramel Cheesecake on the dessert menu.  It’s very indulgent, but worth it!

The one local event that you shouldn’t miss when you stay at the Chateau is …

In the summer, the Worcestershire County Cricket grounds play host to an outdoor cinema – a great way to spend a sunny afternoon. In June, they’ll be showing The Lion King, so any guests with young families might want to bring their picnic blankets and take a short drive over to Worcester for the day.
