Say hello to Gabor, our Deputy Events Manager, in our latest blog post. Gabor helps to organise all of the extraordinary events that take place at Chateau Impney – from gala dinners and awards ceremonies to our very own Impney Comedy Nights and annual balls.
Name: Gabor Szorad
Role at the Chateau: Deputy Events Manager
Has worked here for: Five and a half years
The best thing about working at Chateau Impney is …
I love the fact that my job exposes me to such a variety of people and situations. Throughout my time at the hotel, I’ve met famous actors, sports stars, politicians and hundreds of other really interesting people. My job is to ensure that whatever event you’re attending goes off without a hitch – it’s challenging but really satisfying too.
If I could choose to swap jobs for a day with anyone else at the Chateau, it would be …
I’d love to change places with Stephen, our Executive Chef, for the day. I see the functions and events that we put on, sometimes for as many as 800 people, from our customers’ perspective, but I think it would be great to know how to produce the amazing food that Stephen and his team deliver every night of the week.
My favourite part of the hotel is …
I personally love the two feature suites we have – the Corbett Suite, named after John Corbett, who built the Chateau and the Fleur de Lys, which is a tribute to the French architecture of the house. They are truly luxurious and the beds are the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in – perfect for any special occasion.
The one place in Droitwich or Worcestershire that our guests should visit is …
Droitwich is home to its own Lido, one of the few open-air saltwater pools left in the UK. A trip to the Lido is a great day out for all of our guests, with a wet play area for children and plenty of sun loungers for those who just want to sit back and relax.
My favourite dish on the Chateau menu is …
I can’t get enough of the steak and Imp ale pie. It’s made with the Chateau’s own pale ale, which is brewed just for us by Church Farm Brewery. It’s a really great dish, especially when it’s cold outside.
The one local event that you shouldn’t miss when you stay at the Chateau is ...
If you’re staying with us for a few days, it’s well worth heading down into Worcester for the evening and attending one of the many music concerts that take place throughout the year. Whether you like rock, classical, pop or folk, there are gigs across the city to suit all tastes. Worcester is also only ten minutes away from the Chateau by train, so if you’d like to enjoy a drink, there’s no need to worry about how you’re getting back to the hotel!
