The Roaring Twenties Summer Ball, £55 per Person
9 August 2019
You could not find a more stunning setting for any event than the Chateau Impney Hotel and Exhibition Centre. A totally gorgeous hotel, arriving up the drive makes you feel like royalty.
I attended the Motown Tribute night there, and getting ready I didn’t know what to expect. A tribute night can go one of two ways- terribly cheesy or blow you away. The Mosound Sister were certainly the latter, and really knew how to get the audience on their feet. I'd definitely go to see them again, and they played a wonderful range of songs. While they took a break, the DJ kept things going playing original vinyl, and the dancefloor was full throughout the night. If you close your eyes, you could almost imagine being in the presence of some of the greats.
The whole evening was thought through from start to finish. We arrived up the sweeping driveway and were welcomed into the Broadway Suite, one of the Regent Centre’s biggest event rooms. The room was beautifully decorated, and there was a brilliant atmosphere from all the guests. Even in such a big room, there was a sense of intimacy, helped by the staff who were friendly and attentive. I simply could not fault the service we received. As part of the ticket price, there was a two-course buffet. The food was excellent, with a nod to the southern states in things such as gumbo. The pork steak was a personal favorite, as was the cheesecake which would always be my desert of choice. I’m by no means a Motown expert, but I would say that any evening that gets your toes tapping and keeps the dancefloor full all night must be a success.
As I left with my partner, we noticed that there was a display of the other events that take place throughout the year. The next themed night is going to be an 80s theme in the summer, and after that a black-tie summer ball, and I am already planning to by my tickets to return to this wonderful venue.
